BCB to Perform on Belle Isle August 31st

The BCB will perform August 31st at 7:00 pm on Belle Isle as part of the annual concert series "Music On Belle Isle Group" (MOBIG). The concert will be held on the far west tip of Belle Isle, known as Sunset Point.

MOBIG is dedicated to returning the summer concert tradition to Belle Isle and is promoting the restoration of the Remick Bandshell. MOBIG President and MCBB Music Director Emeritus Craig Strain will make a guest appearance.

There is plenty of lawn space to enjoy the concert. Bring your own folding chair or a blanket to sit on, as well as a picnic basket and refreshments if you wish.

The Birmingham Concert Band is an acknowledged leader among community bands in the state of Michigan. The band has entertained audiences by performing the best literature for concert bands and featuring guest artists of stature, in addition to providing a creative outlet for area musicians.

Membership will be open to all adults with previous instrumental ensemble experience and all performers who play a concert band instrument are welcome. There is no audition required, but there is a three rehearsal tryout period required before acceptance as a full time BCB member. All Band members are expected to participate in performances and have their music prepared prior to performances.  Experienced musicians are always welcome in all sections including string bass.
